Review: Behind the Scandal

Behind the Scandal (Reluctance, #2)Behind the Scandal by M.A. Stacie
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars, ARC by NetGalley, contemporary romance

*warning, I have mixed feelings about this one, so maybe I will confuse you more :)*

**warning: This can be read as a stand alone, but if you are like me and feel the need to understand everything, you should read book 1**

Summary

As we saw on book one of this series, Taylor Reese reached bottom rock when he overdosed. Being part of a very dysfunctional family, Taylor didn't know how to handle the pressure and found a way out through oblivion. Now his family lost all their hope for him and sent to his uncle's ranch in the middle of nowhere.
Libby found a place at Josh's ranch, and that's all she has ever wanted for her and for her son. Not even an ill-tempered relative of Josh's will send her packing, but maybe her past catching up with her will give her no choice than going away.
"Behind the Scandal" is a painful love journey.

likes 4 stars

I like the idea of this book. I finish book one, looking forward to read Taylor's story. I knew it would be painful, and I found truthful his struggles.
The plot is fast-paced and easy to follow, and even though the book is predictable, I knew this would be a love story with not many twists like book 1, and I was ok with it.
The heat in the book was also ok, not as good as book 1, but that is personal preference, the sex here was a lot more vanilla, but exactly what the characters needed it. As I mentioned before, really belivable.
I really liked Josh, Taylor's uncle, much better than his father, in fact he was more of a father figure to him than his own father ever was.
I also enjoyed the father/son, male-bonding-friends between Taylor and Levi, I even had an almost cry moment at the end. :)

M.A. Stacie was true to her story, and I knew this would be a book about screwed-up people. I enjoy a book that has the conflict out-front, and I enjoy a read of internal struggles, of personal growth.

didn't like so much 3 stars

I understood the characters, but I never really connected with them.
I'm not sure if the problem was that I really liked Kyran and Dale in book one, and they overshadow Taylor and Libby too much for me.

One of the problems was, it didn't work for me that Kyran, the only two years older brother, that already raised Taylor his whole life, was guilty at all of Taylor's weakness and his drug addiction. Taylor-the-poor-guy act didn't work for me. I felt for him, with a father like that and a dysfunctional family, but I think he and the book put blame in the wrong place.

Also, I don't care for TSTL people or moments, and this book had for a while a major one. It was the most obvious suspense moment that it could have.

Impressions and Opinion

Like I said in my warning, I have mixed feelings about this book. I like it, but I didn't love it. I read it easily, but it wasn't as satisfying to me as book 1.

I'm not sure if there will be more books in this series, but I will definitely read book 3 if there will be one.
I will also look at other books from this author.

I recommend this book/series if you enjoy contemporary romantic stories

Review: Sinful Surrender

Sinful Surrender (Psychic Menage, #1)Sinful Surrender by Houston Havens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars Fantasy, Ménage, Post-Apocalyptic, Dystopian, Erotic Romance, light BDSM

cover 5 stars

Wow! I wouldn't even need to read the blurb to buy this book in a book store. Looking at this cover, I would know all.
Menage, yeah!
I love the color used for the cover.

Summary

It's 4860 A.D. After the apocalypse, different species survided. Each trying to build a new life for themselves. One trying to dominate and conquer them all.
Fay Avalon is spy running from her government that falls on enemy territory. The problem is, the enemy doesn't seem so barbaric as she believed. In fact the enemy territory feels almost like paradise.
Seaching for the truth, Fay finds more. Hapiness! Will her government let her be happy? Will the enemy ever trust her?

characters 4 stars

The brothers: Each one is a side of a prism, together they are the perfect mate. Lucky for Fay they come in a bonus package. One is a romantic, one is a Dom, one is a protector. They are all hot!

Fay: I loved her for almost the entire book. She was brave, smart,a warrior of sorts, until she decided to have a big TSTL moment. She did got rid of it, thanks, but it cause me one star.

secondary characters: I love Chandra and I think book 2 is going to be amazing.

I did relate, connect, undestood and loved them all.

plot 5 stars

Ms. Havens did it all. Yes! She created a wondefully detailed world, in this futuristic, post-apocalyptic, dystopian book, within a menage erotic romance. This is what I would call perfection. The union of 2 things that I love, a wonderful plot with steamy love story. :)

Even though it has this new world and several new "species" for us to understand, it was so well explained that it was easy to follow. It's a fast-paced plot, that keep me guessing all the time and left me wanting more!
It's fantasy! It's dystopian, and so believable, for that world.

heat 5 stars

The scenes were nicely described, with the perfect amount of steam. They did not dominate the story as it usually happens in menage books, they added to plot and to the reader's enjoyment.
Bravo!

freshness 5 stars

This was so so so new, so so so original, that's unbelievable. Ms. Havens world is amazing!

editing 5 stars

I didn't have any major problem with the book.

Impressions and opinion

I loved it! I'm a huge fan of menage books, and I know they usually are more erotica, with the sex scenes dominating the story. I have no problem with that. :) I like smut in my reads.
But this book was all that and MORE. Yes! It offer us steamy scenes in this wonderfully created world.
So much history in this plot, so many real life concerns. Wow! It blew my mind, how the author was able to mixed it all together in this ONE book.
The ending was perfect and also it told us where book two will begin.

I would read book 2 today, if it was out yet. Now I'm going to "stalk" the writer, to learn, when I'm going to read the next one.

If you like fantasy with smut, this is for you!

Review: Beneath the Surface

Beneath the Surface (Reluctance, #1)Beneath the Surface by M.A. Stacie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 stars contemporary, erotic romance, book one of a series

Summary

Dale is starting over, and to make a good impression on her new job, is a big first step.
Kyran is stress, he need to fight to decompress, his brother new assistant helped raise his pressure even more.
She is tired of being second best, he doesn't do relationships at all, but without even noticing they built something together. Is it strong enough to last?

characters 4 stars

Dale: she is strong, she doesn't get intimdated, she is no push-over. What's not to like?
Kyran: he is hot, dark and problematic. What's not to like?
It was easy to like them. I found a connection with her, and I undestood them.
I would like to know more about Taylor and boat-Dale.

plot 4 stars

The world created was nothing new, but it was believable. It was fast-paced and very easy to follow, I read the book in about 3 hours.
I enjoy a romance without plot twists. This book is about a love story, it's about a couple's journey through real life problems and it was good.

5 stars

Oh yeah! I love office sex, and shower sex, and rough sex. :) Very good descriptions.

freshness 3 stars

There is nothing new, it's a love story that we know they are going to end up together. Well, I like love stories, so I had no problem with it.
There is not a plot twist per se, but there is the build up of the next book's plot.

editing 4.5 stars

It's good, I found a few mistakes, but nothing major.

Impressions and Opinion

This book is contemporary romance, maybe the sex scenes are a bit too much for those that don't like to read very descriptive scenes. That's why I would call it erotic romance.

I enjoy the read, and I'm looking forward for the second book. I'm interesting to know Taylor's story better. He seems to be a more complex character.

I would recommend this book for everybody that enjoys a bit of spicy romance in their lives.

Review: The Pleasure of His Punishment Collection

The Pleasure of His Punishment: The Complete Collection (The Pleasure Of His Punishment #1-10)The Pleasure of His Punishment: The Complete Collection by J.S. Scott
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

2 stars erotica, short-story, anthology

cover 4 stars

It's pretty, it's sexy.

review 2 stars

All stories are very much the same thing. It was hot for the first, maybe the second, then I just kept reading because it was short and it was there.

Impressions and Opinion

I'm not certain I will base all the author's work on a collection of short-stories. I could see that Ms. Scott can write a steamy story, so maybe with a longer book, she would have time for a better plot.

I got the impression those stories were published together exactly because they all had the same theme.

Review: Destroyed

DestroyedDestroyed by Pepper Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars contemporary, dark-erotica, non-con

"It wasn't gentle. It wasn't sweet. It was dirty and cruel and broken. But I couldn't get enough."

Summary

Hazel goes to the fight club only to support her best friend Clue, little did she know, that she wouldn't make back home.
Roan is dark, dangerous and in pain. He only needs to fight tonight to hurt, but he may have found his cure.
Their meeting is explosive, their relationship is hurtful, their journey is cathartical, their ending... you must read to know.

Cover 5 stars

It's hot, it's gorgeous, and if you read the book you will undestand it's Roan. I could see it would be dark, hot and of a fighter.
I love the lack of color, the darkness, once again, so Roan.

Character 5 stars

Hazel is the perfect heroine. Yes, perfect. She makes a lot of bad decisions, but that makes her more human, more like one of us, and makes her perfect. She is so strong at the same time so weak.

Roan is dark, dangerous and twisted. Roan is not perfect at all, and not very human either, but Roan makes you love him nonetheless.

Not easy characters, but I was able to connect, relate, understand and love them. They are the PERFECT characters, IMO.

plot 4.5 stars

I wouldn't consider this book a fast-paced read, because it's not an easy read. It's so intense and emotional that makes you feel like in a marathon. Some parts you relax into the pace, other parts you feel like out-of-air and need to built up strenght to keep going. Don't take me wrong, I never wanted to stop reading, but I cried and I rage along with this book, so I felt I was drowning at some parts and needed sunshine and laughter.

The story was really well crafted and the idea behind it all is amazing and so original that I couldn't believe at times what I was reading.
It's DARK, and I love dark read, but they are not for everyone.

This book kept me on my toes from beginning to end, it was an intense roller coaster ride that kept me guessing all the way. And the twists, yes, Ms. Winters brought us a lot of plot twists, but she never lost her direction and she made everything seems very believable.

heat 5 stars

Yes, it was hot hot hot. It was intense, painful at a times, but I like it dark, so I loved this one.
The description of the scenes were perfect!

freshness 5 stars

I HAVE NEVER READ ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. Really the ideas behind all of this was so originial that I couldn't believe it.

editing 5 stars

I don't remember any major problem and DARK books MUST have almost perfect editing. The stories are usually so hard to follow, that if you have to be battling poor editing, makes it unreadable.
Bravo!

Impressions and Opinion

Some books, you love because it makes you feel goood, happy, light, relaxed. This is not one of these books.

Destroyed, breaks you. Rip you apart! There is not a moment of an easy ride. It is a turbulent flight from take-off to landing.

You are probably thinking that I'm crazy right now, since I've rated this a 5 stars read. But, at the same time it breaks you, it mends you back.
It's not a fight of winning or loosing, but a fight of surviving. It's not a sweet journey, but a road to ressurection, to redemption.

It is a catharsis! It's amazing!

I loved this book so much, that as soon as I finish this book, I bought another book from Ms. Winters.
This was my first book of this author, but it won't be my last!

I would recommend this book if you like dark, gritty and painful, but good with HEA.

Review: Make Me Shiver

Make Me Shiver (Just Make Me, #1)Make Me Shiver by Aline Hunter
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lacey is hot for Michael, but is afraid of his lifestyle. Michael is an experienced Dom and wont settle for anything less that a true sub. He found in Lacey everything he wants for his future, but his ex shows up and create a dent on Lacey's self-esteem. Michael only wants a BDSM relationship that can be based in complete trust and loyalty. Will Lacey be able to give him that?

The book was ok, but I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Even though it says they knew each other for a while, in my opinion it all seem too suddenly. Michael was a good Dom and the rest of the characters from the book seems pretty interesting. By the end of the book, Lacey became a better character. I will give the series another try as I'm in interested in the story of Candice, Lacey's friend.

Review: Fire Baptized

Fire Baptized (Santeria Habitat, #1)Fire Baptized by Kenya Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've loved it.
I started reading and couldn't let go. So I've finished the book and I still want more.

I loved the world Ms. Wright has created with so many different species. Some species I've heard of them before, but the author has just gave them a little personal touch. I really enjoyed the characters, sometimes I rooted for one, others for another.

I am interested and I want to read more!

If you like PNR romances, you should go for it! *Warning - It's addictive"

Review: Hyde

Hyde (Hyde, #1)Hyde by Lauren Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! I really loved this book.

Mitchell grew up with a big secret. Now, at 31, he has learn how to live with his evil side. He is certain he was certain he was the a one of a kind, until he met Eden.
Eden built a "perfect life" for herself, trying to avoid all the bad things of the world. One day, she has to face an ugly truth, perfection doesn't exist.
Even though Mitchell likes to avoid complications, Eden is an unavoidable one.
Somehow this book takes them in a journey of self-discovery and now they want to make it work!

Lauren Stewart plays around with the famous "Dr. Jekyll and Hyde" and presented us with an amazing tale. The end was unexpected and let me very excited for the second book. I can't wait to read what comes next!

Review: Carrie's Answer

Carrie's Answer (Worthington Group, #1)Carrie's Answer by Violet Summers
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three and a half stars.

This is book one of the Worthington group and it looks like a very promising series.

Marcus Worthington finds out his wife was a bitch on their second anniversary. He always thought that she understood he was a Dom, but found out that she saw him as a pervert. Five years later, in totally Dom mode, he sees his assistant inside the club. Even though he has lusted for her forever, she being inside the club changed things. He finally felt permitted to act upon his feelings. Of course, he has to manage to do that without offering his heart.

The story is a big cliche, but it works in the way the authors wrote it. The moments between Dom and sub are endearing, and the main female self-discovery into submission is enlightened.

I will keep on reading this series and I'm very excited from what is to come.

BDSM - menage - HEA

Review: The Burning Bush

The Burning Bush (Santeria Habitat, #2)The Burning Bush by Kenya Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ARC provided by the author to review

I really love this book. This is the perfect sequel for an amazing book 1. It was even better than the first book!

Lanore, was suppose to continue her fight about equality for mixed breed but allowed personal vendettas get in the way. Once again she has Zulu and MeShack by her side, but they are joined in this book by a "seer" and a witch. Tragedies happened when Lanore veered from her fight and a twisted ending let a bigger question in the air. Will Lanore be able to keep on fighting?

Kenya's mastery with words is amazing. Her creativity and imagery of a paranormal world is superior and she has improved herself with this book in making the reader's emotional connections with her characters grows.

In this book I laughed and I cried, I raged and I cheered and now, I can't wait to read the next!

I like the book.

Cassandra is a brat and as all brats she is really annoying. I definitely agree that she needed discipline and I also believe they were tame with her. She is the complete cliché of a brat!

I really liked the deserved discipline and I also was very interested in the non-sexual age play. Something different that really made me think about it all.

I recommend the book, it you like discipline and age-play.

Well this book surprise me from beginning to end. ;)

It's PNR, for adults, but not a romance.

I liked the main character but the world of the books could have been better. Really bad vampires, which I loved it, but a little slow. Of course the end made it all up for me. it was unexpected and it made me realize this one the first book of a series.
I'm really looking forward to see Varick again, since I really liked the "guy".

Sex or Suffer (Dark Colony, #1)Sex or Suffer by Lara Santiago
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked it.

You have two great guys, one ok heroine, one good bad-guy and lots of twists.

The heroine has a disease and we suffer with her for such horrible disease. The author beautifully treated the heroines ups and down and gave us a multidimensional character.

There is also a subplot romance with two secondaries characters.

I not only recommend but I know I want to read the next book. There are still some great characters that needs a great story.

Safeword Rainbow (Safeword, #1)Safeword Rainbow by Candace Blevins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked it!

It's the story of a sadist Dom and a masochist Sub trying to have a relationship by solving their conflicting ideas. The communication between them was really amazing and it gave the readers a great understanding of how these relationships may work. It was not a book inside my comfort zone, but I did relate to the characters at several points.
If you don't like BDSM or are starting to read it now, this is not the book for you.

I will read the next book!

Review: Children of The Gods

Children of the Gods (Chosen, #1)Children of the Gods by Monica Millard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked it the book.
I didn't rate it 5 stars because I wish for a different ending.

The world built was very interesting, but a bit complicated to understand. I should have read the prequel first, because it explains better the setting of the book.
It's a really emotional book, that made me feel all sort of different feelings. I went from sadness to happiness to anger to elation very fast while reading.

The female character is young but very mature. She's shown a great ability to deal with what life trows at her wisely. The male character is complicated. You will hate him sometimes and love him others. There are also two other majors characters that were very well developed.

Safeword Davenport (Safeword, #4)Safeword Davenport by Candace Blevins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved it.

I really enjoyed this book. I think the author was really true to the characters feelings. She presented humans and not heroes. She showed the characters doubts and flaws also theirs certainties and qualities.
Her ending was great and made me anxious for the next one. I'm happy the author chose to get deeper into these characters lives because I feel they still have a lot to share.
I find Ms. Blevins books about BDSM a wonderful learning experience. Even though I cannot relate personally with this experience, I FEEL with Ms. Bleavins books!

I only recommend this book for someone who is interested in knowing about BDSM as a true experience, since this is not an easy book.

Why 5 stars... because it does what says at the beginning.

The first three short stories introduce the main characters of Fire Baptized and give us a better understanding of each character. Then we have the first few chapters of two novels, just to entice and for you to few like reading them both.

I've read one or her books and now I will read the YA book as well.

I really like Kenya's imagination and the way she tell us her stories on her books.

Review: Backstage Pass

Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1)Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoy the book!

Myrna Evans is a psychology college professor that likes to use music riff to explain human psychology. Her unusual methods were not appreciated by her peers in the conference she was attending. After a horrible seminar's experience Myrna decided she needs a distraction that was found in the form of her favorite rock band, Sinners, in the bar of the hotel.
Bryan Sinclair is one of the guitarist of Sinners and he has decided to get really drunk and forget about his cheating girlfriend. Suddenly a real classy woman crosses his path and will change his life.

Backstage pass is a erotica romance that shows how hot and sinful can be the lifestyle of Rock band members. The book has lots of sex going on, but it has also some great characters and it develop into a good plot.

I will definitely keep reading Ms. Cunning's series and I'm looking forward for all the members of the band finding their one true love.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked the book. It is not a stand-alone book. If you haven't read book 1, Raphael, it won't make much sense.

My only two faults for this book are the title and how the bad guy ended. I think the title is somehow misplaced and I wanted a worst ending for the bad guy. I am a blood-thirsty reader, I tend to love and hate characters very easily.

I am hooked to the series and would recommend it to anyway who likes vampires and kick-ass heroines. D.B. Reynolds offer us really great vampires, no teenager version of one.

Review: Transforming Love

Transforming Love (Koning Clan, #1)Transforming Love by Debra Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this book.

Is hard to find something that I like to read better than a shifter story, this one did not disappoint me at all. I was really caught in this fast-paced short-story. But, at the end of the day, I'm a full book kind of girl and I had problems with all the information missing from this read. I wanted to know so much more about the characters and their world really, I ended the book with lots of doubts and unanswered questions and that's why I did not rated this book higher.

Jenny left home for a look at paradise, she just want to see the beach once! Her crappy car, has a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and she has to walk almost 10 miles to find another human being. Somehow, she end up caught by a reality she does not understand.
Gryph is a wolf and does not believe in fairy mothers, but somehow destiny has given him a gift. Now he only has to win the games, for him to keep his present forever.

I loved the promise of this book and I will definitely read the next of the series.

Cover: It' good cover. You can see it's a historical.

Characters: I really liked the hero. He had some baggage, but deal with it with maturity.
The heroine, was so-so. Yes she has had a horrible marriage before, yes she was trying to be daring, yes she played the hot-cold game that I don't usually like.

Plot: It had a good plot, with some great moments. Not the best book I've read from the author, but I was amazed that her book was for free on Amazon.

Heat: I would say 3 into a 1-5 scale. Some great scenes, none that I can totally describe right now.

Overall: I like the book and will look further into to see if this is part of a series.
One thing really threw me off at the end, I was always expecting the hero to see the real portrait.

This is the reason I get freebies sometimes. It's a risk really. You have never read the author, you don't know anything about it, lots of times, you shouldn't have gotten.
This book, it's one of those times I'm glad I gave a freebie and a new author a try, because it totally pay back.

Summary

Nicole and Sebastian are both on a business weekend, with their stressful job. They need to unwind, not to complicate anything. They end up hooking up, but just for a night's fling. It turns into a weekend. That's ok, it's a fling, between 2 strangers.

Impressions and Opinion

The book starts slow, I wasn't really believing in it. But the author is smart, she builds up the tension as the story goes along.
At the end, I was like... this has to happen! I was rooting for the book.
It was suppose to be just an erotica short-story. But it's more. It has a plot and tension and get the reader's full attention.

I didn't gave it 5 stars, because of the end. But I was happy to see, there is a sequel to the story.

I didn't pay for this one, but I'm going to pay for the sequel. I won't even wait much, I'm buying it today!

Review: The Perfect Play

The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1)The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really like the book!
I enjoy reading a HEA type romance and as cliché as it may sound a famous person looking for the girl-next-door type was perfect really. But what I really enjoyed was the feeling of every day normalcy of the book. The author didn't rush the relationship, even though the first meeting was a bit too much, the story flew in an almost real life pace and the relationship grew along the way.
Mitch was star quarterback of NFL and Tara was an event planner. They met when she was organizing the party of Mitch's football team. He was enchanted by not having a woman offering herself to him and creates a game plan to have her.
Their love story was pretty real and the author was very smart at throwing a few twists to muddle the couple's relationship. Ms. Burton delicately touched some real live curve balls and beautifully explore it in her book.

I have to mention this cover, it's really beautiful, one of the best I've seen, but somehow I get no cover art on my kindle read. For the price that I paid for this book, I wish I had gotten a cover with it.

I will definitely be reading the next book of this series!

Forged in Fire (Red-Hot SEALs, #1)Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved it this book and I can't wait to read the next one of the series.

It is a fast paced book with lots of action and feelings. The characters were great, the hero mouthwatering and the connection between the couple to dye for.
I really enjoy the psychic bend of the book and I'm looking forward how it will go on on other books.

The bad guys were not totally cliched and the sex scene was very steamy. But what I really liked the most was the emotional connection I got with all the characters. Not only the main but also all the secondary ones.

Oh, the author was a genius at throwing many subplots that we can expect several books in the future of the series.

Review: Tragedy of the Virgin Bride

Tragedy of the Virgin BrideTragedy of the Virgin Bride by Xavier Edwards
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The tragedy of the Virgin Bride is a historical romance with some paranormal in it.

Josephine is the virgin bride that by horrible events died without consummating her marriage to her Robert. Sophie is a soon-to-be bride starting her new life with her beau, Michael. Past and present fused together and joined these two couples in an incredible tale of love lost, love found.

The book is a fast endearing read. The time set of the story is not explained, but is not needed really for the comprehension of the tale. For a short-story the readers get all information needed to understand and connect with this epic-romantic tale.

I recommend to anyone that likes a little bit of sweetness into their day!

Review: Wickedest Witch

Wickedest WitchWickedest Witch by Eve Langlais
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved it! It was a really amazing read. If I could change anything, I would say the book was too short.

What can I say about it? I laughed it a lot, I was hot and I loved both characters. The book was really fast-paced with a great plot and world build.

Evangaline is a witch known for being evil. Once again she is being dumped by her boyfriend because she is too evil for him.
Ryker is a shifter known for being hot headed and scary. After a family fiasco he decided that he needed to get drunk.
When they both meet, their chemistry is astounding as is their dislike for each other's species. But fate play with them and they have to work together while avoiding each other.

If you like laughs with sex and a great HEA, this is the book for you!

Review: Fighting for Her Soul

Fighting for Her SoulFighting for Her Soul by Karina Cole
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I've rated 2.5 stars. It was an ok book.

Claire is a very proper lady that has never done anything wild in her life, but for 6 months she has been followed by strange fogs. Tired and scared Claire decides to look for a bouty hunter of the unknown. After another attack she moves in with Victor and together they go after the unknown to save Claire's life.

The idea of story is promising. The characters connection seemed forced to me. While the female character was a good heroine, the male character was lacking in my opinion.
The plot was a good one, but the flow of the writing didn't work. The scenes changed abruptly, and even though this was suppose to be a fast paced book, I wish the author hadn't rushed it so much. The book became better towards the end, but the end was also abrupt.

I see a promise in this book. With some review, this can be a pretty good paranormal series.

Review: Chosen

Chosen (Ancients of Light, #1)Chosen by Heather Fleener
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's a 4.5 stars for me. The only reason I'm not rating it 5 stars, it's because I believe the book to be a bit too long. I have no idea what should have been trimmed since the author was amazing at given the readers all pertinent information, and this is a saga really, which usually is long. But as much as I enjoyed the book, at the end I had the "finally" feelings within.

The world has two major forces, the dark and the light. The witches were created from the light and the vampires from the dark. But there are those vampires that defends the light and fights with the witches against the dark force. An ancient misunderstanding created a rift between vampires and witches. A prophecy has Lorcan and Kaitriana as two important keys to united both species(vampires and witches) to fight against the dark.
In this first book of the series the authors introduces the readers to the world of both Lorcan and Kaitriana and their joint effort to save the world. Both characters were developed in depth and it's easy to create a connection with them.

I enjoyed this book immensely and I'm looking forward to be with Lorcan, Kaitriana and their coven and castes on their continuing journey to save the world of the dark.

Review: Slave World

Slave WorldSlave World by Johnny Stone
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I would like to give it a 2.5 stars because it was a little more than ok for me.
First I will start saying that Johnny Stone is a good writer. Most his characters have depth and he explains them really well to the readers.
Slave World was not an easy read for me, I found the book very disturbing on several levels.
As I would like to mention that my rating is not so high, mainly because of my disconfort with the theme. I usually don't like much sci-fi such as "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" and the beginning of the book was a lot like that. I was really close to giving up when Johnny threw a curve ball. It shocked me and it made me go through with the book.
I am not certain if I would have picked that ending, but it was surprising. I believe I will read a follow up of the book, because I am a little curious where this is heading.
One thing I have to say: JOHNNY STONE is a very creative and imaginative person!

Review: Meredith's Awakening

Meredith's Awakening (Worthington Group, #2)Meredith's Awakening by Violet Summers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is plain description

Book #2 of the Worthington group
It was so so so good.

Summary

Meredith Worthington has always been the perfect daughter, but her father always saw her as weak, only because she is a female.
She decides to have some fun, as seems her brothers are always having it, and visits Velvet Ice, a IT nightclub at her town. While in the line she met a man to die for and along with him she enters the club and got a taste of what BDSM might be like. Before she is ready to end her night, her older brother stops her fun and reality crashes on her.

Five years later, Meredith is just a shadow, she has hidden herself behind an ice queen facade, but fate decides to have fun with her.
Marcus, her older brother, left their business for a weekend of pleasure and Meredith takes his place in a business meeting. There she is faced with a ghost from her past that is offering her a second chance.
Can Meredith find her old fun self inside and take the risk? Does she have a submissive hidden inside?

Impressions and personal opinion

Violet Summers take the readers into a journey inside D/S and BDSM lifestyle. Meredith self-discovery and personal acceptance is very well explained and through out the book I have taken this path along with Meredith.

Meredith is a very well developed character. She is multidimensional and endearing.
Tony was a great character, but I felt that he preached things that he didn't do himself.

My one complain about the book was that Tony's overprotection was hypocritical to say the least, and because of it, I could not find myself given this book 5 stars.

I'm really looking forward to meet the next Worthington. From a brief glance at the end of this book, I might say he is into threesome. :)

Review: Nobody's Hero

Nobody's Hero (Rescue Me, #3)Nobody's Hero by Kallypso Masters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It was a lovely BDSM romance. Some moments I felt like laughing others I wanted to cry. The heat on this book was very high with amazing steamy scenes.

In reality, Adam and Karla story started on book 1. It has been a great experience to keep up with the characters growth. At the end I can say this was a really sweet love story.

Adam is a scarred hero and Karla is a great mixture of maturity and immaturity.

I believe Ms. Masters amazing books are only getting better. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys BDSM romance with great HEA.

Review: Small Town Siren

Small Town Siren (Texas Sirens, #1)Small Town Siren by Sophie Oak
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A really good book.

Abby has come back to her hometown after twenty years away. Part of the town still don't accept her. Now, she meets two ranchers that will change her life. Sam knows he wants Abby from the first moment he saw her. But, how about Jack? There is no relationship for Sam without Jack being part of it.

The story is full of most cliches of any romance book. Those same cliches are what make the story endearing.
The characters are lovable with Jack being the star.

I like the book because I love a good HEA with the spice being added by extra numbers on this relationship.

Review: Masters at Arms

Masters at Arms (Rescue Me, #1)Masters at Arms by Kallypso Masters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved the idea of a book that presented the characters, the plot and the theme.

A very easy read that left me wanting more.
The book had a great "recipe": military men, BDSM, romance and drama.

Review: Nobody's Angel

Nobody's Angel (Rescue Me, #2)Nobody's Angel by Kallypso Masters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A very sensual novel. The BDSM was shown with an emphasis on trust. It also shows three different takes on BDSM. Mark's part was the playtime BDSM, in which he doesn't want to live the lifestyle, but wants to be a Dom at the club and in the bedroom.
It has a well written, fast paced plot. A very exciting story that gives the reader an emotional link with the characters.

I was very pleased with the book and will read the next one of the series.

Review: Surrender

SurrenderSurrender by Tawny Taylor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

ARC by NetGalley

BDSM, contemporary, erotic romance, romantic mystery

Summary

"Surrender" portraits the story of Abby, a girl that has never had an easy life. Her brother, once again, was involved in a messy situation and she had to go rescue him. To save her brother, Abby made a pact-with-the-devil sort of deal with her boss. While Abby and Kameron, her boss, enters a journey of self-discovery, several secrets starts to surface and soon they are not sure anymore whom to trust and whom to surrender. Will there be a future for them? Or they were doom from the beginning?

cover

I would have stop by this book in a bookstore. Looking at it, I would have guessed this woman was a submissive.
I think this is a nice cover, with hidden meaning. It's classy!

Overall impressions

This was a slow-paced read for me. It had too many sub-plots, that ended up confusing the main plot a bit.
The story had several twists and it did keep me guessing.
I like the way the BDSM was introduce at the beginning of the book, I just wished it had became the main focus of the story.
The book presented a good flow of intensity level, and the climax of the story at the end was interesting.

The characters were a bit murky for me. The female had a few too many TSTL moments and the male were a not-so-sure Dom, which is not my favorite kind of Dominant.
Because of that I was unnable to connect with them, even though I sort of understood them at the end.

The heat originated in this book was really good. Even though the scenes were not particularly original, its description was spot-on, which generated the perfect amount of heat in the book.

The originality of the story was good, but it suffered form the lack of focus of the plot.

Opinion

This book is a bit different than most BDSM stories, because it brought along a big mistery to be solved, while the couple tried a new BDSM-relationship.
Part of the life situations presented were very believable, but some were in shaky ground.

The book mystery gripped me from time to time and made me want to keep reading, but I finish the book wishing for more of the naughty-office-scenes.

I think this book is an ok read for a light-BDSM readers.

Review: Move the Sun

Move the Sun (Signal Bend, #1)Move the Sun by Susan Fanetti
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars contemporary romance, bikers book, erotica, series
*warning: If you don't like violence this book is not for you*

Summary

Lilli has had a troubled past and suddenly shows up in a small town with secrets to hide. Isaac is the president of a bikers's club and sort of the sheriff of the town. There is no way he can allowed a threat to his town stay, and that is no way he can let Lilli keep her secrets. He needs to know it all. Their chemistry is amazing, but this would not stop him from doing his job. Will their lives mesh together or clash?

"He liked her. He would hate to hurt her. He would, if he had to. If she threatened his people or his town, he'd end her without hesitation. But he'd be unhappy about it.

Cover 2 stars

I don't like it. I don't think it has anything to do with this book. I would not buy this book by it's cover in a bookstore. I would look at it, wouldn't know it was a romance, would never guess it was a biker's book and not in a million years would have imagine the darkness of this book looking at this picture.
It seems like these people are riding scooters and not badass harleys.

characters 5 stars

Lilli: She is the perfect character. She is a badass. A good badass, though. She doesn't feel superior than anyone, she just is not used to need anyone, so she can do it all. She is hot, lethal and charming. No TSTL moment, which is very rare in a female contemporary character. I could relate, connect and understand her. Her love for running ( as in a sport) made us really close. :)

Isaak: Tall, dark and dangerous and much more. He was multi-dimensional. He was hot, lethal, smart and caring. He had a short temper, but he was not afraid of a woman that was his equal and maybe even more dangerous than him. All my love to him. Not an insecure jerk at all. HOT HOT HOT! OH, I could see the two of us in a battle of chess. I love chess!

secondary characters: So many good bikers that I would like to know more: Bart, Len, Victor, and Show, yes Show!

plot 5 stars

Ms. Fanetti offered me the world, at least the world of the perfect biker's club. I was totally in tuned with this biker's club. It was a small club, in a small town, that had all the main qualities to them. They were no patsies, but they were not a whole bunch of macho insensitve men. They were just the right amount of good and bad. They were hot!
It was a very easy story to follow, with an amazing flow to the plot. The book kept me guessing and it offered me moments of happiness and sadness. The intensity, oh it was INTENSE!
The intensity of the story grew from the beginning till the end perfectly. The author also brought in some minor troubles and a huge wave of doom for the future.
Ms. Fanetti blended it perfectly the first book with a continuation of a series. She offered a story with beginning and ending, but she allowed another major plot to grow along this lines, offering the reader glimpses of what is to come.
I've acquired major connections with the characters and I could completely believe this is something that could happen.

heat 5 stars

Was it hot? OH my, COLD-SHOWER HOT! They liked it rough, panty-wet rough.
I felt the sex scenes were original in their own way and it's description were perfect. The right amount of everything!

"How about this: we're a couple because we fuck like freight trains, and there ain't nobody else around can handle us."

freshness 5 stars

I don't think I have quite read anything like this before.
The heroine was almost like a PNR-heroine, without any TSTL moments. The hero is part of a chauvinistic life-style, but he dissociate himself from the stereotype. And the plot, is masterfully weaved for a series, without leaving the readers hanging at the end and I love a good serie.

editing 5 stars

I've mark only two typo mistakes and find this very refreshing. I love a book that I don't have to be rereading parts because I couldn't quite comprehend.

Impressions and Opinion

Even sweet, though, he made her scream.

It made me scream too! This book was amazing!

Bravo, Ms. Fanetti. Bravo!!!

I've become a fan only after one book from the author. I have to pace myself to do not read one book after the other, since I've found out that it's already on book 5 of the series.

I've noticed that I'm in a biker's book mode, and Ms. Fanetti's book is one of the main reasons why; it's too good.

This book offers everything that I enjoy in my read, a HOT alpha, a kick-ass heroine, very intense plot and a good series to come. OH, let's not forget lots of sex. Yes, but not out-of-the-context-sex, just amazing, meaningful sex scenes.

What are you waiting for? Get your own book and let "the sun move you" too!

I'm back!

Yes, I was away from my blog for almost a year, because real life got in the way and I was mainly reading children books with my son. Finally things are back to normal and I'm using my kindle again. Even though I've been posting reviews again for the last couple of weeks, I'm doing a major work on my blog, and hopefully everything here will be ready next week. Feels good to read what I love the most again!!!
